Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
6:53 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, East Old Road 30, west of CR 600E, Pierceton. Drivers: Kenneth D. Koser, 32, North CR 375W, Columbia City, and Whitney A. Olson, 31, North CR 750E, North Webster. Koser was driving west on Old Road 30 when he attempted to pass a vehicle but struck a vehicle on its driver’s side rear. Damage up to $5,000.
2:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 613 North First Street, Pierceton. Driver: Ryan A. Reed, 35, North Parker Street, Warsaw. Reed was driving south on SR13 when his vehicle began to slide. Reed attempted to regain control of his vehicle, but he overcorrected and left the roadway. His vehicle traveled through a yard before striking a tree. Damage up to $5,000.
5:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, North SR 19, north of West Hepton Road, Nappanee. Driver: Jacob N. Smith, 24, Maple Lane, Nappanee. Smith’s vehicle dropped off the edge of the road and he overcorrected, causing his vehicle to leave the roadway and roll. EMS treated Smith at the scene. Damage up to $10,000.
4:23 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, North SR 15, north of West CR 1000N. Driver: Larissa M. Taylor, 31, North Randolph Street, South Whitley. Taylor was driving north on SR 15, not noticing a tree on the roadway until the last minute. Taylor’s vehicle struck the tree. Damage up to $2,500.
3:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, North SR 15, near West CR 800N, Leesburg. Driver: Janet S. Miguel, 24, Orchard Drive 6, Warsaw. Miguel was driving south on SR 15, not noticing that a tree had blown down on the roadway. The front of Miguel’s vehicle struck the tree. Damage up to $2,500.
7:41 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, North CR 850E, north of East CR 250N. Driver: Mitchell M. Riley, 18, North CR 1000E, Pierceton. Riley was driving north on CR 850E when he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to land on its top in a steep embankment. Damage up to $25,000.
5:47 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, 25 West Bell Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Kenneth L. Wright, 58, EMS C27C Lane, Warsaw. Wright pulled out of a parking spot, striking the back of a parked and unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
3:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, West SR 25, near South CR 800W, Etna Green. Driver: Penny L. Railsback, 48, South CR 900W, Etna Green. Railsback was driving east on SR 25 when a deer ran into her path, causing a collision. Damage up to $2,500.
2:17 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, North Detroit Street, near West CR 300N, Warsaw. Drivers: Roberto C. Martinez, 26, East Clark Street, Warsaw, and Eliud G. Gutierrez Aca, 20, South CR 875W, Claypool. Martinez looked away for a moment, not realizing that Gutierrez Aca’s vehicle was slowing for a traffic light. Martinez’s vehicle struck Gutierrez Aca’s in the rear. Damage up to $2,500.
3:40 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, North SR15, south of West CR 400N, Leesburg. Drivers: Robles Ortiz, 26, North Johnson Street, Warsaw, and Cheryl A. Myers, 53, EMS T15 Lane, Leesburg. Ortiz and Myers were driving north on SR15. Myers stopped, waiting to turn onto CR 400N. Ortiz didn’t have enough time to react, striking Myers’ vehicle in the rear. Ortiz’s vehicle sustained front end and driver’s side damage, while Myers’ vehicle sustained rear end damage. Damage up to $25,000.
North Webster
Officers with the North Webster Police Department investigated the following accident:
1:35 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 306 South Main Street, North Webster. Driver: Christina M. Ricci, 50, North Hickory Street, North Webster. Ricci was turning in to a parking spot when a door came open on a nearby vehicle. Ricci struck the door of the vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
11:03 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 3660 Commerce Drive, Warsaw. Driver: unknown. A driver came out of Big R and noticed damage to the rear driver side of his vehicle. Damage under $750.
4:18 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, Lake City Highway, west of East Center Street, Warsaw. Driver: Abhinay Thumma, 26, South Parker Road A313, Aurora, Colo. Thumma was driving west on Lake City Highway when a deer ran into his lane of travel. Damage up to $10,000.
9:16 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, SR 15 N, north of CR 200S. Driver: John W. Davis, 77, La Vista Drive, Warsaw. Davis was driving north on SR 15 when a deer ran out into the roadway and collided with his vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
2:49 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, Main Street, east of Colfax Street, Warsaw. A resident said he looked out his window and watched a vehicle strike two road signs. The unknown driver backed up and left the area. Damage up to $1,000.
3:17 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, 1 Tiger Lane, Warsaw. Driver: Andrew A. Boyle, 17, North Deer Run, Warsaw. Boyle was driving on a parking lot when he lost control due to wet pavement and hit a light pole. Damage up to $2,500.
2:59 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, East Center Street, near Eastlake Drive, Warsaw. Driver: David C. Lewis, 43, South Angola Road, Coldwater, Mich. Lewis was driving east on East Center Street and stopped at a red traffic signal when his vehicle was rear-ended. Lewis tried to talk to the driver who rear-ended him, but the unknown driver said that she didn’t have insurance and that she was late to pick somebody up. She left the scene of the accident. Lewis complained of back pain and said he would get it checked at a later date. Damage up to $2,500.
