Syracuse Library Announces Week’s Activities
The Syracuse Library welcomes everyone to come to read and talk about books with other people. Toddlers and preschoolers read books about animals and visiting the zoo on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. The Children’s Book Club will meet Tuesday, March 13 at 4 p.m. to read “Cupcakes are Forever” and are baking graduation cupcakes.
Food from fiction is reading and eating from “Kitchens of the Great Midwest.” The group discusses the life of a young woman from Minnesota as she discovers her tasting talents on Thursday, March 15 at 1 p.m. The book features a variety of dishes that become part of a foodie culture and show the ways that food creates identity. The other day-time adult group is talking about “Last Child in the Woods” on Wednesday, March 14 at 1 p.m. When our children have an experience with nature it might be the best gift we can give them.
March 17 is St. Patrick’s Day and children can bring home a make it take it craft after they visit the library. Also on Saturday, March 17 is a meeting of the writer’s workshop at 11 a.m.
Chair yoga continues to convene on Tuesdays, for easy chair, and Thursdays for advanced, at 10:15 a.m. The chair yoga schedule stays the same through the end of March. When the weather is nice, The Trails will lead a walk on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m., meeting at the Community Center. String Theory knitting and crocheting get-together meets to visit and share ideas on Thursdays at 5 p.m. Sometimes a little help and inspiration is all that is needed to finish a project. Teen gaming does a Mario challenge on Thursday, March 15 at 5 p.m.
WorkOne services are at the library on Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. A representative from Smokercraft is offering job opportunities on March 14 from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.
