LCA Basketball: Cougars All Over All-HPC Lists
WINONA LAKE – In the first year of the Hoosier Plains Conference, Lakeland Christian Academy made quite the impression.
The boys and girls basketball teams from LCA had selections abound in the All-Hoosier Plains Conference lists. Both LCA clubs were conference champions and undefeated, the girls 4-0 and the boys 5-0.
The boys had Josh McDaniel and Jake Harmon named to the First Team All-HPC, and Landon Twombly named Second Team. McDaniel was outstanding in conference play, scoring 26.6 points per game along with 3.2 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 2.2 steals per night. Harmon notched 13.2 points and 5.8 assists a game, and Twombly was an HPC fantasy star with averages of 6.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 2.8 steals and tossed in a pair of blocks.
The girls had its starting five all make the lists. The trio of Hope Fancil, Tori Calizo and Anna Reimink named to the First Team and Jess Slone and Brady Gross named to the Second Team. Fancil tossed in 16.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.8 steals and 2.8 assists a game. Calizo finished at 13.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, and Reimink did a little bit of everything with figures of 6.0 ppg, 6.3 spg, 4.3 apg and 4.2 rpg. Slone averaged 6.7 points and 8.0 rebounds a game, and Gross finished with five points and nine rebounds a game.
The remainder of the All-HPC lists included boys First Teamers Michael Florin and Eli Thomas of Trinity, Mike Mudd of Granger Christian and De’Andre Coleman of South Bend Career Academy. The Second Teamers included Seth Pingel and Liam Hunsberger of Trinity, Geoffrey Pelletier of South Bend Community Baptist, Micah Goepfrich of Granger Christian and Chancellor Campbell of South Bend Career Academy.
The girls First Teamers included Kara Kline of Granger Christian, Carla Schwartz of South Bend Trinity and Alayna Clifton of South Bend Community Baptist. Second Teamers included Jaiden Patton of Granger Christian and the South Bend Trinity trio of Claire Hunsberger, Olivia Busk and Ellie Temeles.
All-Academic lists had Slone and Jeremy Gross chosen to represent LCA. The All-Academic boys also had Ayden Clark of South Bend Career Academy, Brady Harmon of South Bend Community Baptist, Ethan Stroup of Granger Christian, Justin Baker of Howe Military and Pingel of Trinity. The All-Academic girls also had Asia Hudson of South Bend Career Academy, Liz Tan of Granger Christian, Christin Pruess of Trinity and Clifton of Community Baptist.
