Kosciusko Honor And Remember Honoring Local Vietnam Veterans
WARSAW — The Kosciusko Honor and Remember Committee will conduct a roll call to honor all living Vietnam veterans who reside in Kosciusko County.
Honorably discharged veterans who wish to be honored need to submit the following information:
- Name (last, first and middle initial),
- branch of service,
- rank,
- service dates (service that falls between February 1961 to May 1975),
- and phone number.
Awards and service stories are welcome and may be used for background information. Deadline for application is April 15. Please e-mail information to [email protected] or mail to Kosciusko Honor & Remember, GWMA, P.O. Box 1797, Warsaw, IN 46581.
The Roll Call will be held at 6:30 p.m. during First Friday, June 1, at the Kosciusko County Courthouse when names will be read and veterans recognized for their service. Past events have been held for World War II and Korean War Veterans.
The four day event will begin with opening ceremonies on Thursday, May 31. The recognition ceremony and roll call will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 1. A free breakfast for veterans and family members will take place from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, with a free lunch to follow from 1 to 3 p.m. The events will conclude on Sunday, March 3, with a memorial service for those who have passed at 1:30 p.m.
2018 marks the 45th Anniversary of the signing of the Paris Peace Accords that ended direct U.S. military combat in Vietnam though involvement did not end until April 1975. The Vietnam Memorial Wall Replica will be on the Courthouse Square from May 30 to June 3.
