Warsaw Community Career Center’s April Events
WARSAW — The Warsaw Community Career Center will host the following events in April. The Career Center is adjacent to the Goodwill retail store at 751 Anchorage Point Drive, Warsaw. All Career Center events are free and open to the public.
Open Practice Interviews
- Monday, April 2 — 11 a.m. to noon
- Monday, April 9 — 11 a.m. to noon

- Monday, April 30 —11 a.m. to noon
The Goodwill Career Center will host open mock interviews for anyone who would like to practice their interview skills. If you’re nervous about having an interview or struggling to land a job because of the interview process, these mock sessions will prepare you for the types of questions (from basic to personal) that could be asked. We’ll discuss how to answer the difficult questions and what to avoid. You’ll also learn how to appear confident and highlight your skills in the conversation. Another topic will be how personal appearance makes a great first impression in an interview. Please drop by between 11 a.m. and noon to practice your interview skills and receive a 25 percent discount to the Goodwill retail store.
Job Fair

Join us Wednesday, April 4 for a Job Fair from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Several businesses are participating: McAlister’s Deli, Zimmer Biomet & Chore Time Brock (through Peoplelink / Zing Recruiting), Black Tie Catering / Penguin Point, Alexander Dennis Manufacturing (making double decker buses), MDWise, PSSI, EMS Group, Maple Leaf Farms, Leaders Staffing, and Patrick Industries/Frontline. These businesses will be screening and interviewing on the spot, so bring a résumé, dress professionally and be prepared to leave with potential job offers that day.
Getting started with a Computer

Participants will learn the basics of running a computer, ports and buttons, what’s inside, what an operating system is, how to navigate the internet, apps, the cloud, and more. The workshop will utilize video and text tutorials and will offer a quiz for those who want to test their knowledge and receive a certificate of completion.
The Internet for Starters

Learn how to navigate the internet, various apps, understanding the cloud, accessing information, documents and more. This workshop will utilize video and text tutorials, and will offer a quiz for those that want to test their knowledge and receive a certificate of completion.
Typing 101
- Thursday, April 12 —11 a.m. to noon
This workshop will guide you through several tutorials to become an effective typist. The class will cater to both those seeking introductory typing knowledge and skills, as well as those who want to improve their typing abilities. We’ll cover the basics and work our way up to letter writing. We may also include typing a basic Microsoft Word document.
Veterans Employment Services
- Wednesday, April 18 — 10 a.m. to noon
Daniel Reed from WorkOne will be at the Goodwill Career Center to provide information to veterans on services in the local area. He will offer one-on-one employment help, employer resources, information on benefits and contacts for further services.
Searching with Google
- Thursday, April 19 — 11 a.m. to noon
Intimidated by the internet and searching online? Make your search more effective by learning the ins and outs of using the Google Search Engine. You will learn the difference between Google and other search engines, how to read and interpret various webpages, what the best links are to click on and how to spot true versus false information posted online. This workshop is designed to break down searching the internet for you, to make it easy and effective.
Online Job Search and Application

Struggling with searching for a job and / or applying online? Stop by the Career Center to search for open positions and get assistance with online applications. We’ll navigate multiple job search sites and ensure that your information, attachments, résumé and cover letters are entered correctly. We’ll also assist you in entering in your personal information, highlighting key words and skills to make sure you stand out in the application filtration systems businesses may use.
Your E-mail and Password
- Thursday, April 26 — 11 a.m. to noon
Learn how to set-up or access your e-mail and create an account recovery using your cell phone or another e-mail account. We will cover how to navigate through your email by creating folders and saving messages. Other topics include drafting an e-mail, accessing e-mail calendars, adding events to alert you on specific dates and attaching documents.
