Mast Headlines Latest Grace Signings
WINONA LAKE – Grace College announced a trio of signings to its athletic talent pools this past week.
The women’s tennis program added a familiar name in Fairfield senior Morgan Mast, younger sister to current No. 1 singles stud Emily Mast. Men’s basketball added a state champion to its stable in Oak Hill senior Tyce Frank and women’s golf added some depth with the signing of Indian Valley, Ohio, senior Olivia Shaw.
Mast will arrive at Grace in the fall to join her sister, Emily being an All-Crossroads League performer. Morgan was 25-0 as a sophomore at Fairfield and 21-3 as a junior, earning Honorable Mention All-State and All-District honors last season.
“I chose Grace because of the beautiful campus, and I’m very excited about the education program,” Mast said. “I am most excited to play with my new teammates and and grow in my game with others who have similar goals as me. I’m ready to play with Emily again as she is always encouraging and believes in me.”
“We are very excited to have Morgan join our tennis family,” said Grace College head coach Marcus Moore. “She’s obviously an outstanding tennis player. But more importantly, she brings a positive energy that is contagious. She will be a great fit for our program, and we can’t wait to get her on campus!”
Frank is coming off a 2A state championship for Oak Hill High School. He averaged 12.8 points, 6.5 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game for the Golden Eagles.
Frank set the record for most assists in a single season at Oak Hill, helping the team to its first state basketball championship in school history. He was named honorable mention All-North Central Conference in 2018.
The Marion, Ind., native shot over 50 percent from beyond the arc in his two years at Oak Hill, including a school-record 57 percent as a junior.
“Grace has a great Christian environment, and I’m excited to join an outstanding basketball program with a rich history of success,” Frank said. “Grace is a place that I believe will prepare me well for what the Lord has in the future. I’m ready to contribute with the skills God has given me and be the best team player that I can be.”
Oak Hill coach Kevin Renbarger added, “Tyce has emerged as a leader on and off the floor. He is a Christ-centered person who runs toward situations in which he can spread the word about how the Lord is working in his life. It has been my pleasure to coach Tyce, and his contributions will leave a significant mark on the foundation of our culture.”
Shaw is an All-Conference player from Indian Valley High School (Ohio). She holds the school record for lowest individual score and has the lowest average on Indian Valley’s roster.
She was given First Team honors for the Inter-Valley Conference and has also picked up First Team All-District recognition.
“I chose Grace College because I am able to grow in my relationship with Christ as I play the sport I love throughout college,” Shaw said. “I’m ready to help the team do its best, shoot low scores and break records.”
Shaw is a four-year letterwinner at Indian Valley. She has been the team’s No. 1 player in her final two seasons and was named Academic All-Ohio as a senior.
“We couldn’t be more excited to bring Olivia on board as the first member of our 2018 class. She is everything we look for in our players,” said Grace head coach Denny Duncan. “Olivia is committed to growing in her relationship with Jesus. She is an outstanding student and an excellent player.”
