Dutkowski Honored By NAIA
UPLAND – Alec Dutkowski is off to quite the start to his junior season on the links for the Taylor University men’s golf team.
Dutkowski, a former standout at NorthWood High School, has been named the NAIA Men’s Golfer of the Week.
The honor comes after Dutkowski claimed his sixth career victory.
Dutkowski, who was honored as the Crossroads League Men’s Golfer of the Week for the second straight week on Monday, earned the national honor after posting a two-round total of 3-under par 139 to claim medalist honors and lead the 13th-ranked Trojans to a dominant victory at the TPC Deere Run Invitational last weekend.
The junior from Wakarusa posted an opening round 68 and added a final round 71 in cold and extremely windy conditions at the 6,605-yard, par-71 layout of TPC Deere Run, the site of the 2018 NAIA National Championship.
This is the second time Dutkowski has been named the NAIA Men’s Golfer of the Week after also earning the distinction on April 20, 2017.
Dutkowski was an NAIA 2nd Team All-American last year after claiming a fourth-place finish at the National Championships. He was also the Crossroads League Player of the Year as a sophomore.
Dutkowski, the son of Bill and Sharon Dutkowski, led NorthWood to its first-ever State Finals appearance in 2014. He finished tied for 17th place at State after shooting rounds of 74 and 76 for the Panthers.
