Breaking — Fire At Warsaw Waste Management
WARSAW — Firefighters from Warsaw, Leesburg and Winona Lake were called out early Sunday morning, April 8, to battle a fire inside the Waste Management building at 2352 N. Boeing Road in Warsaw. Dispatchers first called Leesburg firefighters to the scene involving smoke being seen emanating from the metal pole building at about 7:30 a.m.
Several minutes later, Warsaw and Winona Lake units were called to assist and Claypool and Pierceton personnel were put on standby. Dispatchers also put the Silver Lake department on standby for Claypool.
Dispatchers told firefighters at the scene that Waste Management’s key holder reported being 40 minutes from the scene. Firefighters began at the roof using high-powered tools to penetrate the roof surface and tankers were called to the scene.
Firefighters at the scene reported that personnel from local utility companies arrived on the scene at 8:29 a.m.
Updates will be provided when they are made available by fire department personnel who are still at the scene at the time of this posting.
