Thomas Steps Down As Northridge Hoops Coach
MIDDLEBURY – Ronnie Thomas has resigned as the boys basketball coach at Northridge High School.
Thomas, a former player for the Raiders, steps down after six seasons in charge. He is leaving to pursue a position in the business community.
Thomas guided the Raiders to a 76-60 mark in his six seasons. The 2005 Northridge graduate spent one season as the JV coach before replacing Jason Ridge in 2012.
Thomas played for the Raiders and then played one season at Duquesne University before finishing his collegiate career at Wright State University. His older brothers Ryan and Aaron both also played for the Raiders.
Thomas guided Northridge to the Class 4-A Elkhart Sectional title in 2015 and was a two-time NLC Coach of the Year. His final team in 2017-18 went 13-11 overall and lost to Elkhart Memorial in the championship game of the Elkhart Sectional 62-50. The Raiders shared the NLC championship with Warsaw at 5-2 this past season.
The Raiders roster had six seniors this past season, including two of the team’s top three scorers in Connor Utley and Nick Yoder.
Thomas is the second coach from the NLC to resign since season’s end. Steve Austin resigned as Concord coach last month after directing the Minutemen for the past 10 seasons.
