Richard Felkner
Mr. Richard (Dick) Felkner, formerly a resident of Milford, passed away at his home in Fort Meyers Beach, Fla., March 25, 2018.
He was 85 years old and is survived by Peggy Felkner, his wife of 42 years. He was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran and an active, dedicated member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He will be buried at sea by the U.S. Coast Guard off-shore from Fort Meyers Beach.
Mr. Felkner was born in Warsaw and grew up in Milford, attending Milford High School where he lettered in athletics, played in the band and sang in the Milford United Methodist Church Choir. In 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was trained as a Carpentry Specialist. He was deployed and served in the Korean War, earning the Korean Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.
Receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1956, he returned to Indiana and worked for many years as an overhead door specialist.
In retirement, the Felkner’s spent many years traveling the United States and Canada in their RV and eventually becoming full time residents of the Fort Meyers Beach community.
He will be remembered by his friends and family for his patience, kindness and love for his wife, children and grandchildren.
