Warsaw Track: Stookey Set To Be A Spartan
WARSAW. – Warsaw Tiger multi-sport athlete Dane Stookey announced his intention to continue his studies and athletic participation next fall at Manchester University where he will compete for Spartan Track & Field and coach Brian Cashdollar.
Stookey has already notched three team Northern Lakes Conference and sectional titles in track & field, and the senior high jumper is looking to add a fourth conference title and possibly more post-season titles before he changes his wardrobe to black and gold.
A member of the Tiger Basketball program that captured four-straight conference titles, Stookey earned the WHME Student-Athlete of the Week award this past basketball season, and he earned the Tiger Basketball Coaches’ Award after his senior campaign.
Stookey has also been a tireless and impactful leader in the classroom and community as well. A member of the National Honor Society, Stookey worked with My Team Triumph, Agitas as a counselor for three years, Feed My Starving Children volunteer three years, and was an MTT “Angel” for Athletes with disabilities. Stookey was also selected to participate in the NLC Leadership Summit, served as a DARE Role Model.
Intending to graduate WCHS with honors and technical honors this June, Stookey is undecided on his college major, however he is favoring a major in Computer Sciences and possibly Secondary Education. Manchester is a member of the NCAA and the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
