Valley Sports Wrap: April 21
Softball
Tippecanoe Valley’s softball team was swept by host Adams Central, 10-2 and 10-0, Saturday.
In game one, the Lady Vikings managed five hits — including two by Amy Baca and doubles from Alex Gomez and Ally Betten — but could only scratch out two runs in the first and fourth innings. They led briefly going into the bottom of the first before Adams Central resounded with five runs, then broke the game wide open with another four in the third.
Kayla Scott took the loss inside the circle, surrendering six hits and five walks for nine runs — seven earned — in two innings.
Valley collected only two hits — by Baca and Gomez — while being shut out in a five-inning affair in game two. Betten took that pitching loss, giving up 10 runs — only three earned — on nine hits and a walk versus two Ks in three innings of work.
Valley will look to bounce back at Southwood Monday at 5 p.m.
