Kosciusko County Community Fair Responds To Lawsuit, Seeks Donations
KOSCIUSKO — A pending lawsuit looks to end motorized racing at the Kosciusko County Community Fair, again. Four homeowners claim the motorized racing is being conducted in violation of a previous settlement made in 1990. The Kosciusko County Fair Board has reached out for help and is offering their side of the lawsuit.
“Our main source of revenue is fundraisers held by the fair board and volunteers. The Warsaw Motorsports Complex is a huge portion of that revenue,” states a press release. “With current capital projects and community programs, we are financially struggling. If we close the motorsports complex at the fairgrounds our struggles will increase.”
The press release goes on the state, “we intend to conduct the events in a manner that is friendly towards our neighbors and the environment. We are planning to defend this lawsuit to keep our venue open and available for the community events.”
It was noted that the Kosciusko County Community Fair is a 501 c3 non-for-profit entity that receives no funding from the city or county.
The fair board has created a GoFundMe account to raise money for the legal defense costs.
A hearing for this claim has been scheduled in Kosciusko County Circuit Court for 2 p.m. on May 10.
