Summer Classes And Events At The Y
WARSAW — Kosciusko Community YMCA will be starting summer classes on June 4. Classes will run through July 15. Classes for youth will include swim lessons, youth fitness and gymnastics classes for all ages. We’re also offering condensed two week swim lessons so families can work around travel plans. Registration for summer classes starts on May 14, for Y Members and on May 21 for everyone.
In addition, this summer at the Kosciusko Community YMCA, camps will be available for ages ranging from 3 to 17, focused on gymnastics, fitness, basketball, soccer, volleyball and golf. This is a great opportunity for children to try something new without committing to a full session or season of a sport. To see a full listing of the Y’s camp offerings and summer swim lessons, see the website at kcymca.org
To support those in our community going through cancer and their caregivers, the Y is hosting “Kathy’s Cancer Conversations,” a volunteer-led cancer support group meeting at 5:15 p.m. May 14, to discuss Cancer Survivor Nutrition.
Our Inclusion department will be offering several events this summer to enable those with special needs to have fun and interact. The first event from 6:30-8:30 p.m. June 22, will be a teen and young adult night out for people with special needs ages 14-40 to come play games, do arts and crafts, dance and sing to karaoke, eat dinner together and more. A similar event will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 10. Also, we’ll be offering our second year of an Adaptive Performing Arts Camp for those with special needs age 13 and up. Participants will have an opportunity to perform, dance, make music, move, create and have a lot of fun from 1:30-3 p.m. July 17-19 and July 24-26. Also, the Y will be offering a Family Fun Day for families who have an individual with special needs from 1-4 p.m. July 21. Join us for games, snacks, arts and crafts, swimming and more. A time to socialize and enjoy time with other families. Please contact Anne Petre at [email protected] for more information on participating or volunteering.
