BREAKING — Accident In Claypool
CLAYPOOL — Around 1:40 p.m. today, May 29, a single-vehicle accident occurred on CR 700S and had police officers perusing nearly a quarter-mile area during the investigation.
Officers from the Indiana State Police, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and Silver Lake Police Department investigated the accident and emergency medical personnel examined the female driver who complained of chest pain but eventually refused transport to a hospital.
Officers said at the scene that the driver initially drove her maroon Chevrolet Aveo off the north side of CR 700S while traveling westbound. She told officers she was approaching a hill and a truck driver came over the hill driving over the center line.
Witnesses at the scene said the driver swerved in reaction to the truck driver and left the roadway just a few yards west of CR 450W. She avoided the drop-off into a soybean field and over-corrected, taking her over the hill where she said she saw the truck and off the south side of the roadway, where her vehicle collided with two utility poles, causing her entire rear bumper assembly to disengage from the vehicle.
After colliding with the poles, the driver over-corrected again and drove off the north side of the road and continued driving, according to witnesses, until her vehicle came to rest near a front yard on CR 700S.
No further information is available at this time.
