UPDATE — Two-Vehicle Crash On May 26 Injures Three
SILVER LAKE — A Claypool man told police that he was blinded by glare from the sun when he pulled his vehicle into the path of another vehicle Saturday afternoon, May 26, just north of Silver Lake, a collision that injured three people.
According to police, a witness said that Ronald D. Thompson, 71, of Claypool stopped his vehicle at CR 900S and SR 15 for a stop sign, but then proceeded into the the intersection, causing a collision with a vehicle driven by Cheryl A. Maggart, 52, of Wabash.
Thompson told police he did not see Maggart’s vehicle and reported that he was affected by glare from the sun.
Thompson and Maggart both complained of injuries, as well as a juvenile passenger of Maggart’s vehicle who were transported by EMS to nearby hospitals.
Police estimated the total damage to vehicles involved of up to $25,000.
