Warsaw Police Department Hires Two New Officers
WARSAW —The Warsaw Police Department has received approval to hire Kelly L. Brown and Zackery A. Smith as probationary patrol officers.
Brown is a Penn High School graduate and currently resides in Syracuse. She attended Indiana University South Bend studying psychology and criminal justice. Prior to being hired by WPD, Brown worked as a loss prevention officer in Goshen. Brown will be the first female hired by WPD in over 30 years. WPD has been without a female officer since 2011.
Smith is an Argos High School graduate and currently resides in Nappanee. He attended Grace College studying criminal justice. Prior to being hired at WPD, Smith worked as a production supervisor at Carpenter Company in Elkhart. Smith previously worked as a reserve officer for Winona Lake Police Department and Grace College Campus Safety. Additionally, in 2013 and 2014, he worked for the city of Warsaw as a part-time park patrol employee.
Both Brown and Smith’s hire date will be June 3. The two new hires are replacing vacated positions. WPD is now accepting applications for the position of probationary patrol officer. Anyone interested should visit the City of Warsaw’s website at warsaw.in.gov for details.
