UPDATE — Drivers Extricated After Saturday Morning Accident
WARSAW — An early morning two-vehicle accident on Saturday, June 2, resulted in both drivers being trapped in their vehicles.
At approximately 4:41 a.m. Saturday, June 2, a black Ford pickup truck driven by Timothy D Marsillett, Syracuse, and a white box truck pulling a Nelson’s Catering trailer, driven by Joseph Emerson, Cassopolis, Mich., collided head-on at the intersection of SR 15 and CR 400N between Warsaw and Leesburg. Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles and had to be cut free.
According to the initial police report, Marsillett was traveling north on SR 15 at the intersection of CR 400N. Emerson was traveling south on SR 15 at the intersection of CR 400N. Emerson stated that Marsillett began to turn left onto CR 400N at the last minute. Emerson stated he attempted to avoid striking Marsillett’s vehicle, but the vehicles collided head on.
Marsillett first stated he was traveling toward Syracuse, which would have been north on SR 15, then stated he must have been on CR 400N approaching SR 15 and advised he thought he had blacked out and could not remember.
Marsillett complained of pain to his lips, knee and hand, and was transported to Lutheran Fort Wayne Hospital. He consented to a portable breath test, with the results of .000 BAC.
Emerson complained of a cut on his right leg and some bruises. He was not transported to any hospital. Kosciusko County dispatch called on units from Warsaw and Plain Township to respond to the crash and advised first responders to approach the accident from the south as the north approach had been blocked by the wreckage. Warsaw Police Department and Warsaw Fire Department assisted in the accident.
