WARSAW — The Warsaw Community Career Center will host the following events in June. The Career Center is adjacent to the Goodwill retail store at 751 Anchorage Point Drive, Warsaw. All Career Center events are free and open to the public.
Grow With Google: Jobs Near Me
- Monday, June 4 — 11 a.m. to noon
- Monday, June 18 — 11 a.m. to noon
We’ll set you up with a Google Account; and through a Google Classroom show you how to find jobs near you. Google Job Search is a one stop shop for job hunting online. It utilizes various other job search engines and websites to find the job you’re looking for. We’ll show you how to customize your search and assist you with the online application process.
Computer Skills Assessment
- Tuesday, June 5 — 11 a.m. to noon
Want to see how far your computer knowledge can go? Let’s find out your strengths and areas that can be worked on, and we’ll build from there. You’ll receive a print out of your assessment breakdown. After the assessment, we’ll design a one-on-one plan to tackle where you want to go next with your digital skills.

The Goodwill Career Center will host open mock interviews for anyone who would like to practice their interview skills. If you’re nervous about having an interview, or struggling to land a job because of the interview process, these mock sessions will prepare you for the types of questions, from basic to personal, that could be asked. We’ll discuss how to answer the difficult questions and what to avoid. You’ll also learn how to appear confident and highlight your skills in the conversation. Another topic will be how personal appearance makes a great first impression in an interview. Please choose a date and time to stop by and practice your interview skills, and receive a 25 percent discount to the Goodwill retail store.
Microsoft Word Skills Assessment

If you are interested in learning Microsoft Word, whether a beginner or a more advanced user, let us help to assess your strengths and/or build on areas you may need help with. Participants get a print out of their assessment. From there we’ll design a one-on-one plan to increase your knowledge.

Want to see where to start with Microsoft Excel to find out whether you’re a beginner or a more advanced user? Let’s assess it to see your strengths and areas that can be worked on, and we’ll build from there. Participants receive a print out with their assessment breakdown and can always reassess themselves as they see fit. We can design a one-on-one plan to take you to the next level with your Excel knowledge.
Microsoft Word Basics
- Thursday, June 14 — 11 a.m. to noon
This class will introduce you to the Microsoft Word Desktop and its components. Learn how to create and navigate through a document, as well as how to save, print, and enhance it. You’ll find out how to use autocorrect, spell checker, insert bullets and special characters. This workshop is a must for the beginner; no more feeling like you’re not in control.
Microsoft Excel Basics
- Tuesday, June 19 — 11 a.m. to noon
This event will be hands-on and guided with several tutorials on Excel’s basic functions and tools. The class will cater to both those seeking introductory Excel knowledge, as well as those who want to further their Excel abilities. We will cover Excel essential tools, work our way up to formatting and designing a standard spreadsheet with information.
Veterans Employment Services
- Wednesday, June 20 — 10 a.m. to noon
Daniel Reed from WorkOne will be at the Goodwill Career Center to provide information to veterans on services in the local area. He will offer one-on-one employment help, employer resources, information on benefits and contacts for further services.
