Virgie Mae Thompson
Virgie Mae Thompson, 93, Lakeland, Fla., and formerly of the Warsaw and Milford area, passed away May 25, 2018. She was born Aug. 31, 1924, in Alger, Ohio to parents Lester and Nora Whitaker Nichols. On July 18, 1942, she married Raymond F. Thompson.
She spent most of her years as a homemaker. She enjoyed doing crafts and was a volunteer at Lakeland Regional Medical Center for several years. She was a member of the Trinity Life Church of God in Lakeland.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond; her parents; son Michael; sisters Joann Bays and Donna Hites; brothers Ralph and Melvin Nichols.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Thompson, Fort Wayne; daughter-in-law, Candy Thompson, North Webster; grandchildren: Trish Thompson, Lakeland, Fla.; Todd Thompson, Atlanta, Ga.; and Brent (Cindy) Thompson , Austell, Ga.; Emmy (Kirk) Winegarden and Toby Thompson, Fort Wayne; step-grandchildren: Brandi (Denver) McConnell, Kennesaw, Ga.; Brooke (Jason) Romano, Hiram, Ga.; and Ben Norman, Bossier City, La.; 16 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, with a funeral service at noon at the Lakeland Funeral Home, 2125 S. Bartow Rd, and officiated by Pastor Gerald Justice. Interment to follow in the Lakeland Memorial Gardens.
