Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accident:
2:37 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, West Crystal Lake Road, east of West Snyder Road, Warsaw. Driver: Steven M. Hodges, 26, Fairlane Drive, Warsaw. Hodges was traveling west on Crystal Lake Road when a deer entered the roadway. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:
12:08 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, East Jefferson Street, north of South Cleveland Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Thomas A. Yoder, 78, Royal Harbour Court, Fort Myers, Fla.; Christine Blankenship, 55, North Poplar Street, Silver Lake. Yoder told police he was driving his vehicle northbound on South Cleveland Street. He said he stopped at the stop sign with Jefferson Street and did not see another vehicle. He proceeded into the intersection, striking Blankenship’s vehicle, which was westbound on Jefferson Street. Damage up to $5,000.
6:36 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, West US 30, north of north CR 150W, Warsaw. Drivers: Julie A. Hurd, 47, Hawthorn Drive, Warsaw; Stacy A. Grubbs, 39, West Hoffman Lake Road, Warsaw. Both drivers said they had green traffic signals. Hurd told police she was driving her vehicle westbound on US 30. Grubbs said she was driving her vehicle eastbound on US 30. She said she had a green turn light and turned north, striking Hurd’s vehicle, which was proceeding through the intersection with CR 150W. Hurd complained of pain and was attended to by EMS and released at the scene. Damage up to $25,000.
2 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, East Market Street, south of South Lincoln Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Kathy K. Rhoades, 56, South CR 675W, Warsaw; and Frankie M. Sims, 51, West Ryan Road, Columbia City. Rhoades was traveling north on Lincoln Street. As she approached an intersection, a City of Warsaw wastewater utility box truck was parked in a way that extended into the intersection. While pulling into the intersection, Rhoades struck Sims’ vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
Winona Lake
Officers from the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
6:50 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, East Old Road 30, east of North CR 450E, Warsaw. Driver: Wendell L. Powers, 37, West CR 50N, Kimmell. Powers told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on Old Road 30 in bad weather with insufficient windshield wipers, which caused him to not see a downed tree in the roadway. Damage up to $5,000.
