Driver Flown To Fort Wayne After Crash
SYRACUSE — A male driver, and lone occupant in a truck, was taken to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, today. The driver suffered unknown injuries when his truck crossed the center line and struck a tree, nearly head-on.
The accident occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Huntington Street, (SR 13) Syracuse, just south of Boston Street.
Turkey Creek Fire Territory Firefighters extricated the driver from the truck. A landing zone was set up in the parking lot at Wawasee High School, where the ambulance met with Samaritan 2 Air Ambulance. The driver was then transferred to the air ambulance and flown to Fort Wayne.
Syracuse Police are investigating the crash. Southbound traffic on Huntington Street was rerouted down Boston Street to Main Street, then south on Main to Railroad Avenue and back out to SR 13.
