Wawasee’s Radio Station Earns Award
SYRACUSE — WRWT-LP, better known as 93.7 The Mix, at Wawasee High School, will be receiving the 2018 Cardinal Community Service Award from the Indiana Broadcaster’s Association.
Named after the Indiana state bird, the Cardinal, and organized by congressional districts, the awards are a symbol of dedicated service by its membership. The local station will receive its award in late August.
The station, located in District 3, is recognized for its Hurricane Relief Fundraiser.
Students involved with Wawasee High School’s Warrior Leadership Committee hosted a live show on the school’s radio station, 93.7 FM The Mix WRWT-LP, in an attempt to raise money to help out those in need who were affected by the late 2017 hurricanes. All donations were collected through Crowdrise, a website associated directly with the Red Cross. More than $1,300 dollars were raised for people in need.
Jeremy VanLue, Pathways Radio/TV Instructor for WRWT-LP, recognized the students from the high school leadership committee, radio/TV students and staff for wanting to make a difference.
