Warsaw Woman Arrested For Neglect After Children Found Living Among Feces, Trash
KOSCIUSKO — A Warsaw woman was recently arrested after officers discovered her residence was unfit for humans to live in due to a large amount of trash and feces.
Nicole Rae Pearson, 28, 3340 Old Colony Road, Warsaw, is being charged with two counts of neglect of a dependant, level 6 felonies.
On July 6, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department went to serve arrest warrants to Pearson and Spencer Miller at the Old Colony Road residence. Upon arrival, Pearson was in the front yard pushing a female in a wheelchair. The officer advised Pearson that there was a warrant for her arrest and she responded that she needed to get her grandmother inside the residence.
According to the police report, the officer attempted to help get the grandmother inside the residence. As the officer got to the front door, he noticed the door entrance was blocked with trash, debris and an overwhelming foul odor. According to the officer, the trash and debris made it impossible to get the grandmother inside the residence.
Officers observed dog feces on the floor and trash and debris scatter and piled everywhere throughout the residence. The officers found a container overflowing with human feces and stated it was obvious the residence was unfit for humans to live in.
It was discovered that six adults and Pearson’s two children lived at the residence. Because the residence was unsafe for human inhabitants, the officer contacted the Department of Child Services, the Kosciusko County Health Department and Adult Protective Services.
The two children were taken to a local hospital for a check-up and the grandmother was admitted into the hospital. CPS removed the children from the home and the health department condemned the residence.
Pearson was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on July 30, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
