Anna Park Awarded Scholarship
INDIANAPOLIS — Anna Grace Park of Syracuse was recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship by the Home Economists’ Guild of Indianapolis. Park will graduate from Ball State University in May 2019 with a degree in hospitality and food management.
The guild has presented scholarships since 1966 to 114 college students in the various fields of home economics or family and consumer sciences for a total of $88,405.
“One of my passions is teaching and education. I would love to teach family consumer sciences one day — would someday love to be an independent event planner and venue owner,” said Park. “Though whatever career path that I land on, I want to be able to stay passionate and use my talents to serve others and see my values clearly being upheld. I’m not willing to settle for a career that makes a lot of money, but does not align with my values and beliefs.”
Park is on the dean’s list with a grade point average over 3.5, and a member of
IMEX-MCI-MPI Future Leaders Forum
and Phi Upsilon Omicron Hospitality & Food Association president.
She is involved with The Revolution Church, student and Bible study leader,
Ball State Office of Student Life, a mentor with the
Ball State Office of Student Housing & Residence Life and Buley Community Center – after school program tutor.
She has worked at Ball State University as a community office assistant, Oakwood Resort as a hotel operations intern, BSU Housing & Resident Life – resident assistant, YMCA of the Rockies food service assistant and BSU Hotel & Campus Information Desk – front desk assistant.
