Lee Anne Stewart Fusion Dance Team Celebrates Successes In Season
KOSCIUSKO — The Lee Anne Stewart Fusion dance team had a fantastic 2017-2018 season.
In March the dancers participated in Danza’s Chicago competition. The girls also competed in Fort Wayne in the Variety Competition in April. Their competition pieces did very well at both locations. Their feature piece, Under the Sea, earned first place for a maxi production and an award for outstanding presentation. The piece entitled Dock of the Bay earned an award for outstanding choreography. The hip-hop piece from the musical “Hamilton,” Guns and Ships, received an advanced presentation award. It also won the high point award.
I’m Better, a small group hip-hop dance, won a judge’s award for their showmanship. Rivers and Roads and Singin’ in the Rain both won awards from the judges for their precision. Hold Back the River was recognized by the judges for their excellent technique. Surf’s Up, a piece from the Disney movie, received a high point award. The team finished their season with a trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. Each girl earned their Disney Performing Arts ears. The girls attend a two and a half hour mock audition taught by a Disney performer.
From here they were able to learn about one future possibility, dancing at a theme park, to continue dancing into adulthood. She shared with the dancers her grueling schedule, taught them an audition dance, and coached them on how to react and respond to the evaluator when he came in to observe. The girls danced onstage at Disney Springs and received a Golden Mickey award for their performance. They enjoyed not only the class and performance but also spent time together at the parks celebrating their successful season.
