Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
9:37 a.m. Tuesday, Aug.7, West CR 100N, south of West Old Road 30, Warsaw. Driver: Joseph A. Deeter, 20, Flora Avenue, Warsaw. Deeter advised he looked down and did not realize his vehicle had drifted left of center. Deeter stated he overcorrected, and his vehicle went off the roadway, striking a guardrail. Damage up to $5,000.
8:33 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, North CR 300E, north of East Old Road 30, Warsaw. Driver: Debra A. Fitzsimmons, 64, East CR 100N, Warsaw. Fitzsimmons was northbound on CR 300E during a severe storm. The strong winds caused a tree to fall on Fitzsimmons’ vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
3:02 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, North Kalorama Road and EMS T40 Lane, Leesburg. Driver: Linda L. Schwartz, 70, North Kalorama Road, Leesburg. Schwartz stated she swerved to avoid striking an animal that had run across the roadway. Schwartz’s vehicle struck an REMC utility pole. Damage up to $25,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
10:32 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, South Huntington Street, south of East Bowser Road, Syracuse. Drivers: Jackson A. Birch, 24, 15th Street, Bloomington; Devin M. Russell, 20, South State Street, South Whitley; and Thomas E. Webb, 51, North Eagle Place, Syracuse. All three vehicles were southbound on South Huntington Street. Webb stated that Russell’s vehicle had been tailgating him. Webb advised he stopped his vehicle in front of Taco Bell, intending to get out of the vehicle when he noticed that Birch’s vehicle was not slowing down. Birch’s vehicle collided with Russell’s vehicle, resulting in Russell’s vehicle colliding with Webb’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
8:38 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, East Center Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Logan M. McGuire, 20, North Orn Road, Milford; and Evan C. Bremer, 20, North CR 175E, Warsaw. The vehicles collided in a parking lot. Damage up to $5,000.
8:33 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, Lake City Highway and Anchorage Road, Warsaw. Driver: Wendy S. Harges, 44, East Barrington Place, Warsaw. Harges advised her vehicle was stopped in the left turn lane in the westbound lane of Lake City Highway to turn southbound on Anchorage Road. She stated she had a red light. Harges advised she heard tires squealing from behind, and then the rear passenger side of her vehicle was struck by another vehicle. She stated the other vehicle proceeded through the intersection, coming to a stop on the shoulder of the roadway a short distance from the intersection. Harges stated the vehicle then continued westbound. Damage up to $5,000.
2:44 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, Anchorage Road and North Detroit Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Alexus J. Sroufe, 19, North SR 5, Larwill; Roger A. Jackson, 58, West Park Street, South Whitley. Sroufe told police she was stopped in her vehicle behind Jackson’s vehicle on Anchorage Road when her foot slipped off the brake, causing her vehicle to move forward and rear-end Jackson’s vehicle. Damage up to $1,000.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
4:49 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, Argonne Road, north of Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: Deborah Geiger, 60, Kings Highway, Winona Lake; and Rick E. Swaim, 66, Sandra Lane, Winona Lake. Geiger’s vehicle rear-ended Swaim’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
