Mark Allen Thompson
Mark Allen Thompson, 61, Argos, died at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018 at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester, following an extended illness.
He was born on April 16, 1957, in Rochester, to Jack Wayne Thompson and Kathryn Francis (Walters) Thompson and has lived all of his life in the Argos community. On July 15, 1977, in Bremen, he married Debra Hansen and together they have shared the past 41 years.
He had worked for the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department as a dispatcher and jailer. In 1996 he went to work for B&P Trucking of Plymouth.
He was a graduate of Argos High School with the class of 1975.
He was very involved with the Argos Fire Department, having held every office and was the fire chief for many years. He was the secretary and treasurer for the fire department. He was a member of the Indiana Volunteer Firemen’s Association and Indiana Fire Chief’s Association. He had served for the past 30 years with the Indiana Fire Instructors Association. He was a EMT and driver for the Argos EMT for 20 years. He served on the Argos Police Commission from 2007 to present. He was a past member of the Argos Jaycee’s.
He is survived by his wife: Debra Thompson, Argos; son: Travis W. Thompson, Argos, and special friend Rachel Eppenbaugh; daughter: Jessica Lyn (Kevin) Scheil, Warsaw; granddaughter: Khloe Elizabeth Ann Scheil; parents: Jack and Kathryn Thompson, Argos; his favorite mother-in-law: Evadean Hansen, Bremen; sisters: Barbara Thompson, Indianapolis; Sally (Kurt) Schwarz, Minnesota; Roberta Thompson, Ohio; and Karra (Bill) Duff, Argos; niece: Ella; and nephews: Jack and Carlsen.
He is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Roland Hansen.
Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, at the Parkside Community Church, 225 S. Michigan St., Argos.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at the Parkside Community Church, 225 S. Michigan St., Argos, with Rev. Robert E. Rice of the Walnut Church of the Brethren and Rev. Brian Trump of the Parkside Community Church. A fireman’s burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos.
