Three were transported after a two vehicle accident that occurred on US 30 Saturday, Aug. 11.

ATWOOD — Three were transported after a two vehicle accident on US 30, near North CR 500W, Atwood.

At approximately 3:09 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a vehicle accident involving a partial ejection.

The crash involved a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, operated by Leslie A. Patrick, 38, North Webster; and a blue 2013 GMC truck, operated by Ronald L. Swihart, 65, Rochester.

Patrick was traveling north on CR 500W and didn’t notice Swihart’s vehicle traveling west on US 30 until she was already crossing the roadway. When officers arrived to the scene, Patrick and passenger Kevin L. Hobbs, 53, Claypool, were still inside the Silverado.

Two helicopters were called to the scene.

Patrick was taken to Lutheran Hospital by air ambulance. Hobbs and Swihart were transported to the hospital by ground ambulance. All three complained of back pain.

Damages are estimated at up to $50,000.
