Football Opens With A Warsaw Win
WARSAW – Amid programs cutting freshman football left and right, there was a ‘9’ game last night.
Warsaw, one of just four teams in the Northern Lakes Conference to have a freshman team, hosted and defeated Concord, 22-6, Thursday night at Fisher Field.
Warsaw withstood Concord’s opening drive and used a long interception return by Sammy Smith to set up a Lucas Wrenn touchdown to get the Tigers on the board.
From there, Jackson Dawson added two rushing touchdowns and Wrenn and Dawson Lopez each had two-point conversions.
The Warsaw defense had Luke Anderson get a sack, Dane Koontz break up a Concord two-point conversion, and head coach Evan Fras earn his first coaching win.
