Volleyball Results: Aug. 23
TRITON 3, ARGOS 0
Triton finally got one in the win column, taking out Argos on the road Thursday night.
Sitting winless after five matches, Triton stretched out a 25-18, 25-17, 25-21 result to get the ‘W’.
Jaela Faulkner rose up to provide 11 digs for the Trojans, with Alyxa Viers adding 10 digs and four aces. Dylanie Miller sent up 15 assists and Lexia Howstrawser sent down seven kills. Molly McFarland added four aces and Abbey Viers three solo blocks in the victory.
The Triton JV came through with a 25-4, 25-18 win over the Dragons.
Triton (1-5) has its JV hosting the Triton Invite this Saturday and the varsity and JV active Tuesday at Knox.
NORTHWOOD 3, ROCHESTER 0
The Panthers earned a solid home win against Rochester, sweeping at 25-15, 25-23, 25-11.
Maddy Payne again had a big night with 12 kills, four blocks and two aces. Caroline Mullet was also all over the scoresheets with 34 assists, three blocks and two aces. Whitney Gessinger and Ali Knepp combined for 22 digs and Alea Minnich contributed eight kills.
Wood’s JV won in straight sets 25-16, 25-19. Annika Bennett had 21 helpers and both Alana Lehman and Ella Gonger had five kills. Tori Mullet added 10 digs in the win.
NorthWood (6-3) will compete at the Prairie Heights tourney this Saturday.
WAWASEE 3, BETHANY CHRISTIAN 1
Wawasee took all the punches in its matchup with Bethany Christian, but stood tall as the winner in a 21-25, 25-16, 26-24, 26-24 slugfest.
Wawasee had its defense working overtime, with Madison Simmons (20), Brooke Heche (17) and Elizabeth Kleopfer (13) all in double-figure digs. Kleopfer paced the team with 17 assists, Simmons led the offense with eight kills and both Janae Hapner and Molly Jones had four blocks. Kleopfer added seven kills and Hapner had six kills.
Bethany’s JV won by the skin of its teeth in a 22-25, 25-24, 16-14 run against Wawasee. Leslie Vazquez had 16 digs and Kai Jamora 17 assists to lead the Lady Warriors.
Wawasee (3-2) will compete at the Westview tourney this Saturday.
WABASH 3, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 0
Valley fell on the short side of its Three Rivers Conference opener on the road.
Wabash was steady in a 25-17, 25-13, 25-20 win.
The Valley JV got the win with a 25-21, 25-14 series on the Apaches.
Valley (2-3, 0-1 TRC) will play again Tuesday at home against Peru.
LAKELAND CHRISTIAN ACADEMY JR HIGH 2, MISHAWAKA CHRISTIAN 0
