NorthWood Tops, Tigers Split NLC Three-Way
NAPPANEE — NorthWood’s girls golf team moved to 4-0 in the Northern Lakes Conference with a pair of wins over visiting Warsaw and Goshen Thursday at McCormick Creek.
Freshman Cybil Stillson fired a 2-under-par 34 with birdies on 4 and 8 to capture medalist honors. MacKenzie Weaver and Abby Slabaugh both shot 43, and Delaney Davis turned in a 47 as Wood carded a 167 team score. Kirsten Schrock’s 54 was the Lady Panthers’ fifth score.
The Tigers split the meet, meanwhile, with a 185 to Goshen’s season-best 239.
Madelyn Ray shot 43 to lead the Tigers for the second straight night. Izzy Ray turned in a 46, and Grayson Kilburn and Julia Hildebrand both carded 48. Miriam Hagg shot 50 for Warsaw’s throw-away score.
Goshen was led by Olivia Lehr’s 53 followed by Mckenna Cripe’s 58. Cat Hoover shot 60, Lauren Murphy carded 68, and Estella Borden turned in a 74.
NorthWood’s JV also topped the standings in its meet Thursday with a 189 to Warsaw’s 218.
Leading the Panthers JV was Makenna Gall with a 43. Marie Frazzetta paced Warsaw’s JV with a 52.
NorthWood’s varsity improved to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play. Warsaw moved to 8-2 on the season and 2-1 in the NLC.
Both teams will play in the Hall of Fame Classic Saturday at Sandy Pines in Demotte. Start time is 2 p.m. ET.
