Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
1:17 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, 1630 S. County Farm Road, Warsaw. Driver: Myra A. Alexander, 65, East South Drive, Milford. Alexander was driving through a parking lot and didn’t see a light pole as she was turning. Alexander’s vehicle struck the pole. Damage up to $10,000.
11:48 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, East CR 700N, near North CR 300E, Leesburg. Drivers: Scott A. Snider, 58, County Road 19, New Paris; and Kimber L. Baker, 61, EMS D24B Lane, Syracuse. Snider was turning north onto CR 300E and didn’t notice Baker’s vehicle. Baker’s vehicle struck Snider’s trailer. Damage up to $5,000.
7:03 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, Armstrong Road, west of EMS T25 Lane, Leesburg. Driver: Jessica V. Jimenez, 17, Anchorage Road 39, Warsaw. Jimenez was traveling west on Armstrong Road when she lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle struck three large boulders and four pine trees, coming to a stop next to a creek. The rear of Jimenez’s vehicle separated and ended up in a creek approximately 50 yards from the front end. Passenger Alexius Rivera, 18, Warsaw, complained of pain to her entire body. Damage up to $10,000.
9:04 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, West SR 14, east of South CR 450W, Silver Lake. Driver: Johnathan D. Engle, 20, South CR 1000W, Claypool. Engle was traveling east on SR 14 when a deer entered the roadway. Engle sustained minor burns from airbag deployment. Damage up to $10,000.
4:55 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, East US 30, west of SR 13, Pierceton. Drivers: Pwe S. Roh, 25, Tennessee Avenue Apartment 110, Fort Wayne; and Fernado Gonzalez, 32, Old Richmond Lane, Westerville, OH. Roh was traveling west on US 30 when he rear-ended Gonzalez’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
2:19 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, North SR 13, south of EMS B21 Lane, North Webster. Drivers: Karl E. Mavis, 30, North Fox Farm Road, Warsaw; Pashma L. Morseau, 23, North CR 400W, Milford; and Charles L. Marshall, 70, East CR 550N, Leesburg. Mavis was traveling south on SR 13, while Morseau’s vehicle and the vehicles behind him were stopped in traffic. As he attempted to pass Morseau’s vehicle, Mavis’ vehicle struck Morseau’s. Mavis’ vehicle then was struck by Marshall’s vehicle as Marshall was traveling in the northbound lane of SR 13. Mavis sustained multiple minor lacerations on his body, but refused treatment from EMS. Damage up to $50,000.
6:49 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, East CR 600S, north of South CR 400E, Pierceton. Drivers: Christophere J. Dutkiewicz, 27, Farmer Mark Road, Bryan, OH; and Trenton A. Wuchter, 29, East CR 725S, Warsaw. Wuchter was traveling north on CR 400E when Dutkiewicz’s vehicle pulled out into his lane of travel. After the collision, both vehicles went off the roadway. Wuchter complained of pain to his right hand and right knee, but refused medical treatment. Dutkiewicz was pinned in the vehicle and had to be extricated. He could not remember how the accident happened. Dutkiewicz was transported to Lutheran Hospital Fort Wayne for further medical treatment. A passenger in Dutkiewicz’s vehicle, Max A. Swoveland, 44, Auburn, said Dutkiewicz pulled out onto CR 400E and was struck by Wuchter’s vehicle. Swoveland complained of pain and was transported to KCH for further medical treatment. Damage up to $25,000.
6:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 1947 S. CR 500E, Pierceton. Driver: Judy A. Roberts, 59, South CR 500E, Pierceton. Roberts’ vehicle turned and backed into a parked, unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $1,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
10:51 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, US 30, near Silveus Crossing, Warsaw. Drivers: Timothy A. Cmar, 40, South Fosler Avenue, South Whitley; and Heber M. Estrada, 39, Cottonwood Lane, Bartlett, Ill. Cmar was traveling west on US 30 in the left hand lane, passing a semi, when Estrada’s vehicle passed him in the left hand lane as well. The front driver’s corner of Cmar’s vehicle hit the middle passenger’s side of Estrada’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
9:07 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, 1007 N. Warren St., Warsaw. Driver: Allison I. Blanchard, 27, East Center Street, Warsaw. Blanchard was backing out of a parking space when she struck a parked, unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
5:55 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, US 30, near East Old Road 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Terron T. McCoy, 22, South CR 50E, Columbia City; and Jamie L. Gagnon, 30, East SR 14, Akron. McCoy was traveling west on US 30 when the light for the intersection changed. His vehicle went through the intersection, through a red light, and struck Gagnon’s boat trailer. The impact of McCoy’s vehicle caused a boat to fall off Gagnon’s boat trailer. A passenger in Gagnon’s vehicle, Marina Gagnon, 2, Akron, was checked by EMTs for precautionary purposes. Damage up to $25,000.
12:32 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 3073 E. Liverpool Road, Winona Lake. Driver: Lora A. Whitaker, 71, East Walnut Street, Warsaw. Whitaker was backing her vehicle out of a driveway when she struck a parked, unoccupied vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 644 N. Colfax St., Warsaw. Driver: Robert R. Dew, 65, North Colfax Street, Warsaw. Dew was parking his vehicle when his foot slipped off the brake, causing him to strike a porch post support. Damage up to $2,500.
4:25 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, US 30, near Commerce Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Jeffrey M. Embury, 46, West Hill Drive, Columbia City; and Lindsey A. Harness, 21, East CR 400N, Craigville. Embury was traveling west on US 30 and was approaching an intersection. As he attempted to stop, his brakes failed to work, causing his vehicle to rear-end Harness’. Both drivers and all passengers of each vehicle sustained injuries. All were taken by EMS to Parkview Hospital, Warsaw. Embury sustained a minor eye injury. Harness complained of neck pain. Tyler Embury, 15, Columbia City, sustained a minor injury to his elbow and lower arm. Walker L. Hatler Mullins, 23, Bluffton, complained of head pain. Damage up to $10,000.
2:28 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, North Colfax Street, east of East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Jerald J. Womack, 56, Hepler Drive, Warsaw; and Markinia A. Gooden, 35, North Zimmer Road, Warsaw. Womack was traveling south on North Colfax Street when he stopped at a stop sign, then continued through an intersection, failing to see Gooden’s vehicle. Gooden’s vehicle struck Womack’s. Gooden was taken to KCH by Lutheran EMS to be treated for injuries sustained during the crash. He sustained a fracture dislocation to his shoulder and upper arm. Damage up to $10,000.
