ELKHART MEMORIAL 7, WAWASEE 2
After a huge win Thursday over a highly-ranked Goshen squad, the Memorial Chargers continued to play inspired soccer with a lopsided win over Wawasee.
Memorial had eight players register at least one point in the contest and scored five of its goals in the first half. The Chargers outshot the Warriors 18-7 and put 12 shots on target.
Chris Pena had both goals for Wawasee, scoring in the 31st minute on an assist from Cam Gillum and was unassisted in the 65th for his second goal.
Evan Dippon, in between the pipes for an injured Dillon Drake, made 14 saves on 21 chances.
“A Warrior team hurt from injuries, down a starting goalkeeper, came out very poor defensively and allowed five goals in the first half,” stated Wawasee head coach Jordan Sharp. “The second half the boys rallied a bit and showed more hunger. But too little too late. Disappointing defensive show from Wawasee.”
The JV game saw Memorial take the win with a 2-1 final. Alec Wortinger had the only goal for Wawasee.
Wawasee (2-4) will host Culver Academy Wednesday night.

LAKELAND CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 7, WHITKO 1
Five goals in 15 minutes tucked away an easy win for LCA Monday afternoon at Whitko.
Tori Calizo started off the barrage, getting her seventh goal of the season. Anna Reimink followed up with her first of two goals and Jesi Calizo potted away another. Carly O’Hara also found the net in the LCA fireworks in the first 15. The second half saw Reimink and O’Hara collect their second goals, Reimink’s fourth of the year and O’Hara celebrating her first two of the campaign.
Whitko had Charlotte Cripe find paydirt off a corner kick, it’s only spot kick of the match.
LCA fired off 25 shots to just four for the Wildcats. Maddie Paris made three saves for the win while Whitko got 18 combined saves from Jazspen Stewart and Julia Seifert.
“We played a pretty solid game,” stated LCA head coach Nat Raber. “I would like to have seen more possession and build up as four of our seven goals went unassisted. We did finally score off a corner kick which is something we have been working on. It was nice to get some players good minutes tonight. We have a game tomorrow and it was good to get some rest before another game.”
LCA moves to 3-0-1 overall and will host Central Noble Tuesday afternoon.
