UPDATE: Driver Airlifted To Fort Wayne Hospital After One-Car Crash
MILFORD — Todd A. Wilson, 36, North SR 19 No. 20, Etna Green, sustained several injuries, including a fracture/dislocation to his knee/lower leg after his vehicle crashed into a tree on CR 1350N. The accident was at 9:18 p.m. east of North CR 200W, near Milford. Wilson was flown by Lutheran Air to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
The investigating officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department reports Wilson was traveling westbound in his 2000 Chrysler Cirrus when it veered left, went across the eastbound lane of traffic, went off the south edge of the roadway and struck a large tree. Wilson was trapped in the vehicle and was extricated. He was then transported by Lutheran EMS to a landing zone at Purina and flown to Lutheran Hospital.
Wilson did admit to police to consuming alcoholic beverages prior to the crash and an open alcoholic beverage container was located inside the vehicle.
Police are continuing their investigation for impaired driving.
Damage was estimated up to $50,000.
A landing zone for the medical helicopter was set up at Purina Mills by Milford Fire Department, assisted by Leesburg Fire Department.
Lutheran EMS, Nappanee Fire Department, Milford Fire Department, Milford and Syracuse police and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded.
