Panthers Close Regular Season With Sweep
NAPPANEE — NorthWood’s boys tennis team closed out the regular season with a 5-0 victory over West Noble Monday night.
The Panthers surrendered a total of only four games to their West Noble counterparts on five varsity courts.
Trajan Schwartz and Grant Topping beat Dillan Sumowski and Andrew Tom 6-1, 6-1 in the closest match of the evening. Wes Troyer downed Isaac Weimer 6-0, 6-1 at 1 singles, and Ben Vincent topped Chris Miller, 6-1, 6-0 at 2 singles. Landon Holland earned a 0-0 shutout victory over Caleb Thompson at 3 singles, and Dawson Bley and Chase Horner swept Logan Jacobs and Brogan Jones, 0-0 at 2 doubles.
NorthWood’s JV also won on all courts, 4-0.
The Wood varsity closed the regular season at 11-4. The Panthers will host sectional on their new courts for the first time in two decades this week and drew the bye at Sectional 40. They will play the winner of Wednesday’s opener between Goshen and Bethany Christian Thursday night.
