When Approached By Police, Warsaw Man Swallows Bag Of Meth
WARSAW — A Warsaw man is facing charges after allegedly swallowing a bag of methamphetamine.
Jeremy D. Mabie, 37, 223 W. Jefferson St. 10, Warsaw, is being charged with obstruction of justice, a level 6 felony; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
On Sept. 24, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department observed a male subject he recognized as Jeremy Mabie on East Market Street in Warsaw. The officer had prior knowledge that Mabie had an active arrest warrant.
When the officer approached, Mabie turned his back. When Mabie turned back around he was coughing and his eyes were watery as if he had been choking.
The officer spoke with Mabie and advised him of the active arrest warrant. Upon searching Mabie, the officer found a container with marijuana residue and four clear plastic bags. Mabie reportedly advised the bags had contained methamphetamine and that he now uses them to carry marijuana.
Mabie was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for medical clearance. At the hospital, Mabie admitted he had swallowed a clear plastic bag containing methamphetamine. Mabie then admitted to the officer that when he was turned away from the officer he swallowed the plastic bag of methamphetamine in order to hide it from the officer.
Mabie was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail on Oct. 4 on a $10,500 surety and cash bond.
