UPDATE: Official Charges Filed For Pierceton Bank Robbery
PIERCETON — Official charges for the Pierceton bank robbery that occurred on Saturday, Oct. 6, were filed this afternoon, Oct. 9, after the suspect was apprehended at a Warsaw hotel.
Jeffery Lee Brewer, 34, 403 N. Main St. A, Kendallville, is being charged with robbery, a level 6 felony.
On Oct. 6, a Pierceton police officer responded to a robbery at the Lake City Bank. The bank teller advised that a man dressed in a gray hoodie and jeans approached the window. The man had a pink backpack and gave the teller a note stating, “look put all the money in here now.” The teller put more than $750 into a bag that the male was carrying.
Officers viewed the bank’s surveillance video. They were able to identify the suspect as Brewer.
The officers also spoke with a witness to the robbery. The witness advised he observed a person with a left cheek piercing enter the bank carrying a pink backpack. The witness observed the suspect hand the backpack to the teller and then run through the lobby and out the door.
Another witness told police he saw someone run from the bank, get into an orange Dodge Challenger and drive away.
Officers then spoke with Brewer’s girlfriend. The girlfriend advised that she talked with Brewer earlier via cell phone and that Brewer told her he had just robbed the bank.
Brewer later admitted to officers that he robbed the bank and left in the orange Dodge Challenger.
Brewer was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail this morning with a $10,250 surety and cash bond.
