Fisher’s Passing Leaves Whitko, Friends Reeling
SOUTH WHITLEY – The sudden passing of Whitko baseball head coach Mark Fisher left the school reeling this week.
Fisher, who passed away Monday, had coached the Wildcat baseball team last season and served as an assistant in the program for four years.
The school issued a press release Wednesday evening.
“It is with a heavy heart that Whitko Junior Senior High School announces the unfortunate and sudden passing of head baseball coach, Mark Fisher. Coach Fisher was entering his second year as the varsity head coach after serving four years as an assistant under former coach Erik Hisner.
“We are, obviously, saddened by this news.” stated Principal John Snyder. “Though not a teacher here, Coach Fisher was a valued member of the Whitko family. He worked hard to continue the proud tradition of Whitko baseball. Our thoughts and our prayers are with his family. We will be working with our players to help them through this very difficult time.”
