North Webster Community Public Library Announces Upcoming Events
NORTH WEBSTER — While the kids are out of school for fall break, bring them to Family Bingo at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at North Webster Community Public Library.
It’s easy to play for children of all ages with lots of chances to win. Everyone goes home with multiple prizes.
At 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, the Sphero SPRK Robot Program will be held for ages five to eight. Kids practice coding and programming skills to make this robotic app-controlled robot zip around and perform tricks. Advance registration is required to work with the robot, but all children are welcome to come and watch.
Later in the week kids can catch a free movie at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, complete with free popcorn. The Youth Department will be showing a movie about a despondent teenage girl who is forced to spend the summer at her quirky aunt’s ranch where she bonds with a spirited horse, and together they save the ranch from destruction. Rated G with a 91 minute run time, this movie will appeal to pre-teens as well as younger children.
In the Adult Services Department, the week starts off with Voyager Book Club at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, when the group meets to discuss domestic fiction books. This book club focuses on a specific genre each month with each member reading a book of their choice within that genre. Next month the club will read and discuss books by authors they have never read.
If you enjoy cooking and gathering with friends, Revolving Recipe Round-Up meets at 5:30 p.m.of the fourth Tuesday of every month with a different food focus each month. On Oct. 23, the group is asked to prepare fruit dishes and bring them to share and sample along with the recipes. The library provides the table service and coffee.
Openings are still available for the Craft-a-Card Workshop at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25. Cost is $10 and includes instruction and supplies for making three finely detailed Christmas cards. Advance registration with pre-payment is required to participate. Sign up and pay at the circulation desk.
