Grace’s Teel Named Crossroads Player Of Year
WINONA LAKE — Following an impressive season, Grace volleyball’s Caylie Teel was recognized as the Crossroads League Player of the Year on Tuesday.
Teel was one of six Lady Lancers honored on the postseason All-Crossroads League Team.
Alexa Hill joined Teel on the league first team, while Kelsee Zuidema and Marta Bleed earned a spot on the Second Team, Gina Novotny was Honorable Mention, and Makaela Lochmueller was named to the All-Freshman Team.
Teel’s honor came after a dominant season for Grace. She was an electric player, producing 465 kills and 490 digs. Her 3.5 kills per set led the league, and her 490 digs ranked ninth. She racked up 23 double-doubles for the Lady Lancers.
Hill was the league leader in assists for the second year in a row, tallying 10.3 assists per set. She eclipsed the 2,000 and 3,000 career assists mark this season and also posted a career-best 355 digs.
Zuidema had 3.2 kills per set, ranking No. 5 in the league. She pounded out 430 kills on a .203 percentage.
Bleed was third on Grace’s team, producing 233 kills (2.6 per set). She hit at a .201 percentage.
Novotny has been Grace’s libero for every match. She tallied 627 digs, ranking fourth in the league. She notched double-digit digs in 32 matches.
Lochmueller led Grace’s team with a .235 hitting percentage. She had 1.8 kills per set during league play, adding 0.8 blocks per set defensively to lead the Lady Lancers.
