Lady Warriors Come Up Short in Swim Opener
KENDALLVILLE — The Wawasee girls swim team opened the year with a 97-88 loss on the road at East Noble Tuesday night.
Wawasee collected a total of eight wins in the dual meet, including both the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays. Lillian Tyler, Ella Park and Rileigh Atwood were members of both the Lady Warriors’ winning relays, partnering with Alexandra Haberman in the 200 free relay for a 1:53.32 time and with Jordan Gibbs in the 400 free relay for a time of 5:08.53.
Tyler also earned wins in the Individual Medley (2:27.12) and the butterfly (1:07.71), while Atwood collected dominant wins in the 100 free (58.94) and in the breaststroke (1:10.98) and Park earned another two wins in the 200 free (2:09.81) and the 500 free (5:38.1).
East Noble had few multiple-event winners but used its depth to finish one-two in the diving competition and the 50 free and two-three in the 400 free relay, the 200 free relay, the 500, the fly and the IM.
Wawasee hosts Warsaw Saturday, when the Warrior boys also open their season at 9:30 a.m.
