Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
6:49 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, East Armstrong Road, west of North CR 200E, Warsaw. Drivers: Edward D. Hover, 52, North CR 400E, Warsaw; Jeffrey M. Lewis, Taurus Drive, South Whitley. Hover told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on CR 200E and stated he saw Lewis’ vehicle approaching an upcoming intersection but thought he had the right of way and that Lewis had to stop. Hover said he continued into the intersection into the path of Lewis’ vehicle. Damage up to $25,000.
9:24 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, North SR 13, south of North Southshore Drive, Syracuse. Driver: Sharon S. Craft, 50, East Madison Street, North Webster. Craft told police she was driving her vehicle southbound on SR 13 when a deer entered the roadway. She told police she was unable to avoid hitting the deer with her vehicle. Damage up to $1,000.
8:11 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, East CR 100N, east of North Shagbark Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Todd S. Davis, 54, Chapman Lake Drive, Warsaw. Davis told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on CR 100N when a deer entered the roadway. He told police he was unable to avoid hitting the deer with his vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
2:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, East US 30, east of South CR 325E, Warsaw. Drivers: Ronald E. Bellman, 70, 12B Road, Bourbon; Donna S. Castle, 61, West Crystal Lake Road, Warsaw. Bellman told police he was in his vehicle stopped and facing south. Castle told police she pulled her vehicle up next to Bellman’s vehicle and that he turned right, colliding with her vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
7:11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, North Warner Road, north of East Cornelius Road, Syracuse. Driver: Terri D. Ritter, 63, North Hillside Drive, Syracuse. Ritter told police she was driving her vehicle southbound on Warner Road when a deer entered the roadway. She told police she was unable to avoid hitting the deer with her vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
Warsaw
Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
12:12 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, Executive Drive, east of North CR 150W, Warsaw. Driver: Austin J. Owens, 21, North Main Street, Claypool. Owens told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on Executive Drive and stated he blacked out, causing his vehicle to travel over the center line, over the median and striking a tree. Owens was given a portable breath test, which tested negative for alcohol. Damage up to $25,000.
10:19 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, Ivywood Drive and Dogwood Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Noah T. Pequignot, Ivywood Drive, Warsaw. Pequignot told police he was backing his vehicle out of a driveway and struck a parked vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
7:47 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, Jalynn Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Mackinzee L. Sechrist, 17, East Main Street, Atwood; Cole A. Woolridge, 19, North CR 175E, Warsaw. Sechrist told police she was backing out of a parking spot and did not see the vehicle driven by Woolridge. Damage up to $2,500.
6:27 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, SR 15, Warsaw. Drivers: Cynthia A. Kyle, 52, Wooster Road, Winona Lake; Donald W. Holterman, 70, South Saint Andrews Road, Winona Lake. Kyle told police she was driving her vehicle southbound on Detroit Street and did not see the vehicle driven by Holterman in the intersection before striking his vehicle with hers. Damage up to $5,000.
6:02 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, US 30 and Commerce Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Elizabeth McCullough, 32, East CR 400N, Peru; Edward A. Cochran, 53, South Main Lane, Pierceton. McCullough told police she was traveling northbound on Commerce Drive and was stopped at the intersection of US 30 for a stop sign. She said she was between the Marathon gas station and Lake City Bank. She told police she had her right turn signal on and looked to the right to ensure nothing was in the roadway. She said she then checked to her left and then proceeded onto US 30. She said immediately when she pulled onto US 30, she observed a person in the right lane of travel and said she struck that person with her vehicle. She said she then heard a minimum of one vehicle strike the pedestrian. Cochran told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on US 30 and observed multiple vehicles stopped with their flashers on and stated it was very dark. He said he saw, and then struck with his vehicle, something that looked like a pile of clothing in the roadway. The pedestrian Wendy Eileen Coulstring, 55, Warsaw, died from injuries sustained during the accident. Damage up to $2,500.
5:35 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, US 30, east of Anchorage Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Jeremy L. Kelly, 41, West SR 14, Silver Lake; John A. McKinnon, 62, Woodland Pass, Fort Wayne. Kelly told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on US 30 when the vehicle driven by McKinnon stopped suddenly in front of him. He told police he was unable to stop his vehicle in time to avoid a rear-end collision. Damage up to $2,500.
3:27 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, Lake City Highway, Warsaw. Driver: Landa J. Bussard, 64, North Parker Street, Warsaw. Bussard told police she was driving her vehicle into the Hacienda parking lot when her pant leg became caught, causing her to involuntarily accelerate her vehicle, which traveled over a curb, struck a tree and the Hacienda building. No injuries were reported but Bussard’s vehicle and the Hacienda building both sustained heavy damage. Damage up to $25,000.
2:58 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, South SR 15 and East Market Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Martha J. Light, 80, Behlman Drive, Warsaw; Paul M. Austin, East Joshua Drive, Warsaw. Light told police she was stopped in her vehicle at the intersection of East Market Street and South SR 15, intending to turn right on a red light. She said she did not see the vehicle driven by Austin and began to make the turn, causing the collision with Austin’s vehicle, which was traveling northbound. Damage up to $2,500.
11:13 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, Provident Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Earn L. Zimmerman, 56, West Wood Duck Drive, Mentone; Gwenneth I. Long, 19, Clinic Court, Warsaw. Zimmerman told police she was driving her vehicle southbound in a parking lot and was waiting to pulling onto Provident Drive. She said that she believed her vehicle was too far in the roadway and began to back up, causing the collision with Long’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
10:40 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, Dubois Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Angela M. Hurd, 47, Fisher Avenue, Warsaw. Hurd told police her backup camera wasn’t working and that she backed her vehicle into a parked vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
8:10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2211 E. Center St., Warsaw. Driver: Kandi Howard, 53, CR 350S, Pierceton. Howard backed up her vehicle and struck a parked vehicle registered to David Curtis, Warsaw. Damages up to $5,000.
