Michael Kent Maggart
Michael Kent Maggart, 73, Cromwell, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at the Center for Hospice care in Elkhart. He was born on July 14, 1945, in Wolf Lake, the son of Herbert and Betty Jean (Vance) Maggart. On Sept. 2, 1995, he married Marsha Jean Burdette.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marsha Maggart of Cromwell; two daughters, Kim (Frank) Richardson and Shelly Pena, both of Cromwell; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; siblings, Penny Beerman of Fort Wayne; Tim (Fay) Biddle of Syracuse; and Jody (Dave) Franklin of Topeka; step siblings, Ken (Toby) Biddle of Syracuse; and Paula Gingerich of Ligonier.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and stepchildren, Jeffrey Ray Blackshire, and Laura Kammerer.
He graduated from Cromwell High School and worked at Cromwell Hardware for over 20 years. He also worked at M&M True Value in Ligonier, and Budd Company in Kendallville. He enjoyed being outside, hunting, fishing, and more than anything, he loved to garden.
In keeping with Michael’s wishes, no public visitation or service is planned. A cremation committal will take place at Legacy Cremation & Remembrance Center in Ligonier. Michael will be laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery in Topeka, at a later date.
