PERU — Tippecanoe Valley’s wrestling team earned a thrilling, 37-36 victory at defending Three Rivers Conference champion Peru Wednesday night.

Trailing 36-31 headed into the last match at 182 pounds, freshman Brandon Hammer pinned Chase Seifert in just 35 seconds to give his team the come-from-behind win. Tyler Nine (220), Drake Montelongo (113), Branson McBrier (132) and Jacob Eherenman (145) also collected pinfall wins for Valley, while Luis Castillo (138) earned a Major Decision victory, and Jon Humes (160) won a 6-0 decision.

Valley’s JV lineup also earned a 9-6 win. James Borntrager won by pinfall, and Braxton Davis won by decision.

The Vikings return to action at the Maconaquah Invitational Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
