Lady Cougars Fall Flat In Fourth
WINONA LAKE – A cold shooting performance in the fourth quarter doomed Lakeland Christian in a 42-34 loss to Culver in girls hoops.
Trailing by just three points, 29-26, heading into the fourth quarter, LCA only managed eight points while Culver hung on the hot hand of Maddie Shedrow to a victory. Shedrow scored 20 points to lead the Cavaliers to the road win, just its second victory of the season.
Culver held LCA’s leading scorer, Tori Calizo, to just five points, seven below her average. Jessi Calizo and Anna Reimink combined for 23 points, 12 rebounds and nine steals, but the Lady Cougars had just six points from the remainder of its roster. LCA also struggled to take care of the ball, committing 16 turnovers.
LCA (4-4) will host Hamilton in a boys-girls doubleheader Saturday. The girls will tip at 4 p.m., the boys game to follow.
