Syracuse Man Arrested After Vehicle Accident Leads To Discovery Of Drugs
KOSCIUSKO — A Syracuse man was recently arrested after he crashed his vehicle into a tree and was discovered to be in possession of various drugs.
James Joseph Miller, 49, 503 Turtle Bay Drive 39, Syracuse, is being charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
On Nov. 19, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to a crash in which a vehicle struck a tree. The officer arrived and identified the driver as Miller. According to the affidavit of probable cause, the officer observed Miller exhibiting signs of intoxication but registered a .000 BAC on a portable breath test.
The officer performed a vehicle inventory search and located a metal smoking pipe and multiple bags containing marijuana. Miller was then transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital in an ambulance. Upon arrival at the hospital, the officer conducted a search of Miller’s person and located another bag of marijuana, multiple bags of methamphetamine, five Oxycodone pills and one Tramadol Hydrochloride pill.
Miller was later booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Nov. 19, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond. He has an initial hearing scheduled for Dec 13.
