Two Face Charges For Using Fraudulent Credit Card At Smith Appliance, Reinholt’s Town Square Furniture
WARSAW — A man and woman face fraud and theft charges after using a fraudulent credit card at Smith Appliance and Reinholt’s Town Square Furniture.
Tiffany L. Rodman, 31, 6008 Prairie Meadow Drive, Indianapolis; and Zachary J. Anewich, 30, 52445 Oakland Ave., South Bend, are each being charged with two counts of fraud and two counts of theft, all level 6 felonies.
On Oct. 15, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a fraudulent credit card purchase at Smith Appliance. The officer spoke with the business owner, who said on Oct. 9, a male and a female, identified as Anewich and Rodman, purchased appliances valued at $4,654.50 and used a MasterCard to pay for the items.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the card was denied two times. Rodman called her bank and the person on the phone requested to speak with the cashier. The person on the phone told the cashier a four digit passcode to push the card through. The cashier entered the code and the card was accepted. The purchased appliances were loaded into a U-Haul and Anewich and Rodman left the store.
On Oct. 13, Smith Appliance received an e-mail from PNC Bank that said the credit card used to purchase the appliances was fraudulent.
On Oct. 17, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a fraudulent credit card purchase at Reinholt’s Town Square Furniture. The officer spoke with the business owner, who said on Oct. 9, Anewich and Rodman purchased furniture valued at $6,691.78 and used a MasterCard to pay for the items.
The card was denied two times, with Rodman calling her bank and receiving a code to complete the transaction. Rodman and Anewich loaded the furniture into a U-Haul truck.
On Oct. 17, Reinholt’s Town Square Furniture received a notice that the credit card used for the transaction was fraudulent. The U-Haul truck was rented to a female on Sept. 7. An officer spoke with U-Haul rental and the company said the female had reported fraudulent credit card activity.
Rodman was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Nov. 30, with a $21,000 surety and cash bond.
Anewich is wanted on a warrant with a $21,000 surety and cash bond.
