Wawasee Adds Another Set Of Wins
SYRACUSE – Wawasee will head into its biggest test of the season on a win streak after the Warrior boys and girls swim teams defeated Plymouth Thursday night at the Wawasee Natatorium.
Wawasee pitched a shutout in the boys races, winning all 12 events to score a 127-51 victory while the girls used a trio of lifetime bests to win eight categories in a 113-72 triumph.
A pair of best-evers were performed by Jacob Krugman in both the 500 free at 5:28.32 and the breaststroke at 1:05.46. Karlson Hand also had a lifetime best in the 200 free at 1:58.76, and Hand also claimed a win in the backstroke at 1:03.25.
Daegan Kingrey had two wins, taking the 50 free at 23.60 and the 100 free at 51.83, as did Jared Kingrey in the individual medley at 2:04.52 and butterfly at 57.26. Brady Claassen won diving with a six-series of 226.35, and the medley relay (1:52.06), 200 relay (1:38.94) and 400 free (3:41.25) were all green suits.
Rileigh Atwood, Ella Park and Lily Tyler each had lifetime bests among wins on the girls side. Atwood posted a 2:08.76 in the 200 free, Park a 2:26.32 in the IM and Tyler a 1:06.85 in the backstroke. Atwood added another win in the breaststroke at 1:10.60.
Abby Hackleman won the fly at 1:15.62, Jordan Gibbs picked up her first win for Wawasee in the 500 at 6:07.37, and both the 200 relay (1:49.57) and 400 relay (4:04.79) went green.
Wawasee’s boys move to 4-1 in the Northern Lakes Conference, the girls improve to 3-2. Up next for both clubs is a visit to Northridge, which is currently 4-0 in the NLC on both sides.
