BREAKING — Pierceton Home Gutted By Sunday Fire
PIERCETON — A home in Pierceton was destroyed by fire Sunday afternoon, Jan. 13.
Units from the Lutheran EMS, Pierceton Fire Department, Washington Township Fire Department and Winona Lake Fire Department were called by Central Dispatch at about 2:58 p.m. for a residential house fire at 306 W. Tower Street in Pierceton. The dispatcher said the officer on the scene reported smoke billowing from a window.
Firefighters on the scene soon called for an equipment assist from North Webster and asked that Sidney firefighters come up on standby.
Firefighters at the scene sprayed the house from all sides, but the fire burned hot enough to nearly gut the interior of the multi-addition structure. At about 3:30 p.m., two firefighters on the east end of the structure reacted quickly, preparing to remove themselves from harm’s way as a portion of the roof on the east end collapsed into the top floor of the home.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
